Business Expansion Strategy

KOMEYA has been operating successfully in Markham, Ontario since 2017, offering fast Asian cuisine that is convenient, healthy, and affordable.

I began working with the owners from the very beginning of the business, supporting KOMEYA’s growth as a long-term freelance creative partner. From the initial stages, I helped shape the brand foundation by designing the logo, menu, and packaging, while also developing visual systems that could grow with the business.

Beyond design, I supported the restaurant’s expansion by identifying opportunities to attract new customers and build meaningful partnerships. This included helping facilitate and negotiate collaborations with organizations such as T&T Supermarket, BMW dealerships in Richmond Hill and Markham, and the University of Toronto.

Having grown alongside KOMEYA as both a collaborator and a friend, I continue to support the business today by overseeing and delivering design and creative work across all touchpoints.

Mobile Business Expansion Strategy

After COVID significantly impacted the restaurant industry, I identified an opportunity to help KOMEYA regain momentum and expand brand awareness during a period of limited resources. With opening a new physical location not being financially viable at the time, KOMEYA needed a flexible and cost-effective way to grow.

Instead of traditional expansion, I proposed and developed a food truck strategy as a mobile business solution. This approach allowed the brand to reach new audiences, increase visibility, and participate in high-traffic events without the overhead of a permanent location.

As part of this initiative, I helped establish a partnership with the University of Toronto, where KOMEYA became the first bubble tea food truck on campus, supporting student activities such as orientation and large-scale events.

I led the design and creative execution of the entire food truck experience, including the truck’s exterior branding, new menu design, interior layout, service window design, and detailed mockups to support renovation and build-out.
